Viador Announces the Release of Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0
Viador Strengthens its Business Intelligence Portal with New and Enhanced Reporting and Management Features

Sunnyvale, Calif., April 16, 2003. Viador Inc.™, a pioneer in Business Intelligence Portals, today announced the release of Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0, which includes significant new features to its Business Intelligence Portal offering. In addition, there are new Portal & Report Management add-on Portlets to enhance large-scale customer needs. This release represents the continued development of a tightly integrated Business Intelligence platform with a full-featured and extensible Portal offering that other independent vendors typically solve through a variety of partnerships, but only at a cursory level. Viador provides a full range of browser based Business Intelligence tools through the Viador BI-Portal including standard query and reporting, ad-hoc and multidimensional analysis capabilities.

Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0 Key Features

Extended Charting Capabilities
Major BI-Portal Suite 7.0 features include Report Designer enhancements to offer new and extended charting capabilities to support new output formats and styles. Chart consumers can be provided with very granular control over the chart to view the data their own way without IT intervention or report re-design.

"Custom Call" for Easy Data Output Configuration
The Report Designer also includes a new "Custom Call" feature that allows for easy configuration to redirect the data output, XML for example, as input to other applications. In addition, the "Custom Call" feature can pass custom or system defined BI-Portal environment parameters to facilitate external report embedding for other custom applications.

Usage Tracking and System Monitoring
The Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0 features new logging features and auditing reports which allow for Login / Logout activity, User Usage Tracking and System Monitoring. Included are a set of standard Viador Report templates that can be modified or used out-of-the-box to better assess BI-Portal usage and traffic patterns for structured and unstructured BI-Portal content. Viador BI-Portals are often mission critical to many organizations and this provides an avenue to monitor users for security reasons as well as to measure ROI based upon access usage.

Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0 Add-on Portlets
Viador is introducing additional add-on Portlets to the BI-Portal Suite 7.0. The add-on Portlets include the Report Style Designer, Import and Archive.

Report Style Designer Portlet
The Report Style Designer offers a web-based WYSIWIG like design layout capability that enables sophisticated layout and design of reports already created through the existing Report Designer product. The Report Style Designer represents a leap forward in rapid report layout design capabilities by enabling the intermixing of text, graphics, forms, table of contents, headers and footer design elements with Viador's charts and reports. The result is rich PDF or HTML output to meet today's complex report output needs where multiple data sources and information contribute to the decision making process.

Import Portlet
The Import Portlet is a new tool that allows for transfer of Report and Portal Objects between multiple Viador BI-Portal installations. This customer driven feature is designed to increase productivity for those administrating and developing content for the Viador BI-Portal. A typical large-scale implementation has a multiple server environment that includes development, test and production servers. The Import Portlet is "context aware" of the report and portal object types being imported which allows for seamless transfer across the servers which decreases the overall development and IT efforts required to deploy the end solution.

Archive Portlet
The Archive Portlet is a new tool that allows for improved report management through detailed backup and restoration of Report and Portal objects. The Archive Portlet features were driven by customers that have literally millions of reports and portal objects within their BI-Portal with different ownership, data source and publishing rights. The Archive Portlet preserves this context as well as the complete virtual taxonomy so that it can be easily restored back to the original user, administrator or other user accounts.

Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0 will be available in a limited production at the end of April and is scheduled for general availability at the end of May. The BI-Portal Suite 7.0 Add-on Portlets are sold and licensed separately as additional Portlets to the Viador BI-Portal Suite 7.0 release.
